The State Fair

Sacramento Zoo

On our way home from Carlsbad, we stopped in Sacramento for a couple of nights to have some fun time as just a family of 4. It was hot, hot, hot! We took the girls to the Sacramento zoo, and the giraffe's and monkey's were a big hit. I personally liked the anteaters quite a bit. The next day we ended up buying a mini van. My pride was forever damaged as I realized that I'm officially uncool, but my spirits lifted when we went to the State Fair later that evening. The place was so massive, I doubt we covered a third of the grounds. Talullah and Berlyn got to go on a ride or two, and we all enjoyed strolling around seeing the bright lights and crowds of people. I couldn't believe Nick tried one of the deep fried twinkies, but my mind was completely blown when I saw a stand selling deep friend butter chocolate covered bacon. You also had the option of dining on a "Maggot Melt" or "Raccoon on a Stick". I'll pass, thank you very much. We stayed at the fair well passed the girls bed time. It was nearly 11 by the time we made the long trek to our car... ahem, I mean, van and the babies were SLEEPY to say the least. So glad we had a nice weekend together as a family!

Baby whisperer

This is cousin Grace. We love her. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. She is one of the sweetest girls I've ever met, and she is absolutely amazing with little babies! She plays so well with the younger ones, teaching them games and pushing them in strollers. She even came over while I was getting the girls ready for bed and she whisked Talullah away, dried her off after the bath, had her hair brushed and handed her the binkie to finish it off. We will welcome Grace to come visit us in Norther CA anytime, ever. We miss you, Grace!

Visiting my grandparents

We are always so happy to be able to stop and visit great grandma and grandpa Perry during trips south. They love seeing how much the girls have grown, and grandpa always seems to teach Talullah something new when we see him. Last visit, he taught her how to sharpen pencils. We relaxed at their house for the night, watching an old family video and just enjoying the company. We love you grandma and grandpa!

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

It's a looooong drive from Fortuna to Carlsbad. With two little girls in the backseat, there's a lot of stopping along the way. I'm an impatient mother, and finding a private place to 'go' just seemed unnecessary. When Talullah said she had to go, we simply stopped the car and let her go. It's all about saving time.

Goodbye, sweet Olivia

We found a good new home for baby kitty cat. I was so sad to see her go, but the opportunity came up for another family who recently lost their cat to take her. She was such a good cat... except for her inability to use the litter box. We will miss her fiesty loving very much.

Future Super Star

As much as I hate it...

I just love it to pieces. We've had this cat for maybe two weeks. For some reason, it has chosen our bed as the litter box of choice. I have had to scrub the bed and change the blankets at least half a dozen times. If we can't solve the problem this week, the cat is a goner. Praying for a miracle, because look at what a cutie she is!

Happy 4th of July!

Wish, oh wish we could have gone out of town for the whole weekend, but we still enjoyed the 4th of July. We walked the booth's in Old Town. Once Miss T finally woke up to enjoy the festivities, she got her face painted and went in the petting zoo. Among the baby pig, sheep, goat, and tiny horse, the chickens were by far her favorite. After all that we drove out to the Salmon Creek Ranch to visit with the Chapmans. Mark & Tammy, Eric & Johanna, Rebekah and Cameron, and Mike & Annette were all there. We sat basking in the sun enjoying a delicious dinner and good conversation. Since I had yet to see them, we left the girls with Grammy and hiked down to the waterfalls. Simply breathtaking! Tammy broke out a slip 'n slide and poured cooking oil on them in hopes of making for a more slippery slide. In hindsight, this was not such a good idea.

All dressed up and no where to go

Got the girls all ready for Sunday School and then remembered that Berlyn might still be contagious from her chicken pox. BUMMER!!!
