And the winner is...
This is my mother's last year teaching at North Coast Learning Academy. She has given 110% for the past twelve years, and she is thrilled to 'retire' in order to spend more time with her grandchildren. It's a sad loss for the school, but a huge gain for me! This year, my mom was nominated and chosen to win the Excellence in Teaching award. In a prestigious ceremony, she was honored for her hard work and dedication in the class room. This woman doesn't do anything with less than her whole heart. I've seen first hand the long hours she's spent decorating her class room long after the students have gone home. She's spent countless hours on weekends grading papers and preparing lesson plans. She's had me pick winners for her art contests. And whenever we run into her students outside of school, they come running up, gushing over my girls because of the stories my mom has shared with them about her grandbabies. And of course, once a teacher, always a teacher. When the year comes to an end and she leaves her class room for the very last time, her job is actually just beginning. She'll be teaching my girls whenever she can, I'm sure!
